Is SpriteGen really free?

Yes. The editor and PNG export are free forever, and every account gets 10 AI credits a month at no cost, with no credit card needed. You only pay if you want more AI generations or pro export formats.

Do I need to sign up to use it?

No. Open the editor and start drawing right away. An account is optional. You only need one to use AI credits or to save sprites to the cloud.

Is this real, editable pixel art or just a filtered image?

It is real pixel art. The canvas is a grid of palette indices, so every pixel is a cell you can edit by hand. Ask for a 16×16 sprite and you get exactly 16×16, with no blur and no stray colors.

Can I use the sprites I make commercially?

Yes. You own the art you create with SpriteGen and can use it in commercial games and projects.

What sizes can I make?

Any size you set. Common choices are 16×16, 32×32, and 64×64, but you can pick whatever your project needs. The size is fixed when you create the canvas, so the output is always exact.

How does the AI edit work?

It is conversational and surgical. Ask it to change one thing, like "make the helmet red", and it changes only those cells while the rest of your sprite stays untouched. The AI writes to the same grid as your hand tools, so you can switch between them freely.

What can I export?

PNG, animated GIF, spritesheets, and game-engine formats for Aseprite, Unity, and Godot, plus palette files and the raw source document. PNG export is free on every plan.

Does it work on mobile?

Yes. SpriteGen runs in any modern browser on phones, tablets, and desktops, with a touch-friendly editor.

What is the difference between the plans?

The Free plan gives you 10 AI credits a month. Indie ($12 a month) gives you 100 credits plus pro export formats. Studio ($50 a month) gives you unlimited credits, subject to fair use. Pay-as-you-go credit packs are also available and never expire. See the pricing page for the full breakdown.
